Goal Durations help you configure when a user is assigned with a variant of a campaign, for how long conversions are logged for a campaign when a user will see a campaign after they join or close it.

You can use these settings for the templates integrated on the respective page. The user will go on seeing the campaign even if they close the page and refresh it. The main goal is to keep the variant visible at all times. For example, you can promote free shipping, discounts, etc.

      Re-eligibility Duration

This setting allows you to specify the duration for which an impression log remains valid for a user, determining when subsequent impressions are counted. For example:

      • Re-eligibility duration is 14 days.
      • If the user viewed the campaign 2 days ago, then the total impressions of the campaign is 1.
      • If the user viewed the campaign again yesterday, then the total impressions of the campaign is 1 (the second view isn't counted).
      • If the user viewed the campaign after 16 days, then the total impressions of the campaign is 2 (re-eligibility period has elapsed).

The re-eligibility duration must be equal to or greater than the other durations.

If the re-eligibility duration is set to 0, goal conversions will not be logged for the respective campaign.

      Goal Conversion Duration

This setting refers to the period between the initial display of a campaign to a user and the completion of the goal for the first time. For example:

      • Goal conversion duration is 5 days.
      • If the user viewed the variant today, then the total impressions of the campaign is 1.
      • If the user made a purchase after 2 days, then the total purchase goal conversions is 1.
      • If the user made a purchase after 10 days, then the total purchase goal conversions is 1 (as the goal conversion duration has elapsed, subsequent purchases aren't counted as goal conversions).

      Re-eligibility Duration After a Click

This setting specifies the timeframe during which a user remains eligible to see the same variant of a campaign again after clicking on a link or button within the campaign. For example,

      • Re-eligibility duration after click is 5 days.
      • If the user viewed the campaign today, then the total impressions of the campaign is 1.
      • If the user does not interact with the campaign, then they may encounter the same variant or other variants of the same campaign in the next session.
      • If the user clicks on the campaign, then they will not see the same variant of the campaign for 5 days, but they may still encounter other variants of the campaign.

Within the Re-eligibility duration after click, users still have the possibility of being assigned to other variants or the Control Group of the same campaign.

After the Re-eligibility duration after click, the user will randomly assigned a variant or Control Group according to the Traffic Allocation.

If the user does not interact (neither click nor close) with the campaign variant in the previous session, there's a possibility that they might see the same variant of the campaign in the next sessions. Essentially, Insider cannot guarantee that the user will not see the same variant within the re-eligibility duration after a click unless they actively click on or close the campaign.

All these settings are applied to every variant of a campaign. For example, if the Re-eligibility duration after click is set to 5 days, clicking any button on Variant A means it won't be visible for 5 days. However, Variant B can still be seen during this period. After viewing Variant B, it also becomes inaccessible for 5 days, regardless of when Variant A was clicked by the user.

If Variant A becomes visible to users again after the Re-eligibility duration after click, the second impression will not be counted unless the Re-eligibility duration has elapsed since the first impression.

      Re-eligibility Duration After a Close

This setting specifies the timeframe during which a user remains eligible to see the same variant of a campaign again after close the campaign. For example,

      • Re-eligibility duration after close is 5 days.
      • If the user viewed the campaign today, then the total impressions of the campaign is 1.
      • If the user does not interact with the campaign, then they may encounter the same variant or other variants of the same campaign in the next session.
      • If the user closes the campaign, then they will not see the same variant of the campaign for 5 days, but they may still encounter other variants of the campaign.
