    Requirements for Web Smart Recommender

      Article Summary

Suggested reading: Getting started with Smart Recommender

Smart Recommender enables you to recommend personalized products to your users, requiring a product feed that includes these products. This product feed is created after data about the user's actions on the website (products visited, purchase history, etc.) is collected and trained. Therefore, a few requirements need to be fulfilled before starting to use Smart Recommender, which are:

      Insider Tag integration

      Insider system rules-based Smart Recommender

      • This feature reduces the dependency on any product feed.
      • It also collects all product-related attributes through Insider system rules.
      • It should be activated by Insider team.

Some system rules should be ready before using the Smart Recommender.

      • Product ID, category information, price (if any), and stock information should be defined in these system rules.
      • Stock information should be defined regarding the vertical of your business. Please note that recommendations will not function properly unless this information is defined correctly as suggested below:
E-commerce websites: Stock information is gathered either depending on the number of items left in the stock or depending on whether the product is in stock or out of stock. If any product is out of stock, it is not recommended in the Smart Recommender.
Publishers: The update date of the news/posts is gathered for the stock information. Only the news/posts that are updated in the past 2 days are recommended in the Smart Recommender.
Event websites: Stock information is gathered through the event dates. If the event date is past, it is not recommended in the Smart Recommender.
Automotive websites: Stock information is not applicable, yet a default stock definition should be covered.

Important checkpoints for Insider System Rules

      • Insider maps the products and assigns an item ID for each product. These item IDs should be matched with the line item numbers if you already integrated “Insider Object - Transaction Object”. Refer to Transaction Object to see the key and property format for the ID. Item IDs should be matched properly to see the correct revenue on the Insider Platform.
      • Insider maps the products which have different sizes and a variant ID is assigned for each size. The unique product ID should be the same for each product. Item ID should not be changed according to the size of the product. For example, if there is a Medium and Large size of one product, this product should have only one Item ID and the size should be defined as a variant by Insider. Pay attention to this if you have products that have size options by following the Transaction Object instructions.
