Google Analytics Enhanced Ecommerce in Smart Recommender

      Article Summary

Google Analytics Enhanced Ecommerce is an advanced event integration provided by Google that enables product purchase and pageview performance tracking via Google Analytics.

Smart Recommender can send those events if the campaign is viewed and/or clicked by the user, and Google can attribute the add-to-cart and purchase events to the clicked item in the same session. Session logic is how it is defined on Google Analytics.

      Goals

Google Analytics enhanced Ecommerce is a good way of presenting the performance of Smart Recommender if you would like to show the contributed revenue based on the clicked items and the item-based performance.

      Requirements

      • You must have the necessary integration. If you don't have it, you can refer Enhanced Ecommmerce.
      • You must check the Google Analytics Enhanced Ecommerce checkbox on the Recommendation Settings.
      • The JS code of your Smart Recommender campaigns must be around 120 lines.
      • ItemID collected via system rules must be the same as you send to Google.

      How does it work?

When the Smart Recommender campaign is viewed by the user (Not viewable impression), it fires an event to Google Analytics with all items that are visible (If there are 5 items on the widget, those first five items have been fired). This event is gone to the Product List Name

If the user clicks one of the items shown on Smart Recommender, there is one more event which is the Clicked item's information fired to Google Analytics.

Once those events are fired to the GA, if the user purchased the items that they have clicked in the same session, Google matches those clicks and purchases and attributes the revenue of that item to the Product List Name

Product List Name of Smart Recommender Campaign starts with Insider and continues with the Variation Name and the Variation ID.

You can filter "Insider" and view only Insider Smart Recommender's events.

      Use Cases

Google Analytics provides deep product insights both for you and Insider by Enhanced Ecommerce dashboard.

You can see each variation's performance based on CTR, Add to cart, Revenue, and Unique Purchases as well as the item-based performances.
