    Geofence Settings

      Article Summary

Geofence push campaigns are automated campaigns that triggered by user’s current location. A geofence is a tracked area of a pinpoint location on a map based on the given radius. If a user enters or exits the tracked geofence, a push notification will be sent.

Insider's SDK does not track user's current location in real-time. Geofence app pushes are trigger once the user enters or exits the set specified area. For users to receive the geofence app pushes, they need to allow for the background location tracking on their application selecting the "Always" option.

Geofences DOES NOT consume devices battery and DOES NOT slow down the app. WiFi and location services on the device use same amount of the device’s powers with Insider geofences on.

      How to create a geofence

We suggest always creating a geofence and measuring the performance of the location before creating a campaign. To create a geofence, go to Components > Geofence.

You can create a geofence a few ways:

      • Searching the address in the top bar
      • Clicking anywhere on the map to move the pointer
      • Providing longitude and latitude

      Once you’ve found your location:

      • Name of the geofence something easy to remember.
      • Set the radius (in meters) from the pointer.

When you are creating a geofence campaign you need to set up campaign triggers. You also need to specify when to send notifications. After these triggers and specifications are set, you can select Enter or Exit

Please note that location services should be enabled and on high accuracy mode on the users’ phone. On iOS, this means WiFi should be enabled as well.
