Enable Opt-in Box Template for Safari

      Article Summary

Safari (for macOS Ventura and above) has started to support Web Push notifications with the use of the cross-browser Push API, Notifications API, and Service Worker standards. However, for Safari, unlike other browsers, the opt-in prompt does not trigger once a user lands on a website. The user needs to grant permission with a gesture, such as a click or tap on a button. For this reason, you might need to activate the opt-in box template for Safari browser to enable your users to opt in for Web Push notifications on Safari.

To enable Web Push Opt-in Box template for Desktop Safari,

      1. Navigate to Experience > Optimize > Web Templates.

      2. Click the Create button on the Web Templates listing page.

      3. You will land on the Template Library. You can search for the template or find it under Collect Leads.

      4. When you click on the template, you will see the available platforms, its default preview, description, and its elements.

      • Choose Desktop and click Use For Desktop if you are using it for Desktop Web Safari.
      • Choose Mobile and click Use for Mobile if you are using it for Mobile Web Safari.

      5. Customize your template in the Design mode and see how it looks in the Preview mode. Save your design to proceed.

      6. Set the traffic allocation of your new variant to 100% and your control group to 0%.

      8. Target your audience in the Segments step.

      9. On the Rules step of your campaign, choose the Traffic Source.

      10. Set the browser as Safari. Click Save and Continue button at the bottom right of the page.

      11. If you want to show the template in each session of your users, make sure Goal Durations in the Goals step remains Session-based

If you want to set a duration between two prompts of the template, you can remove the Session-based checkbox and set the Re-eligibility Duration as you see fit. For example, if you do not want to show the box template twice in a week, you can set the duration as 7 days.

If a user allows or rejects the browser’s native opt-in prompt, they will not see the opt-in box. The opt-in box template is only visible for users, who have not interacted (allowed or blocked) with the browser’s native opt-in prompt. They will keep seeing the opt-in box based on the settings you choose here until they allow or block the native opt-in prompt.

      12. You can set the language to fit the audience you want to target with your Web Push campaign. Select the Never Ends option under Activation Time. Select the Activation Status and click Launch to run your campaign.

We highly suggest you to test your campaign before you make your campaign active and go live.

Do not forget to generate the InOne panel to apply changes to your website.
