    Architect Channel: Google Ads Integration


      Article Summary

      Before setting up Google Ads Customer Match in Architect, you need to ensure that you have the following items created and/or completed:

      Requirements

      1. You need to have an active Google Ads account for your brand.
      2. Your Google Ads account must satisfy following conditions to use Google Ads Customer Match:

      • A good history of policycompliance,
      • A good paymenthistory,
      • At least 90 days history in Google Ads,
      • At least USD 50,000 total lifetime spend.

      3. You should accept the authorizations asked while logging in to your Google account and the Google Ads accounts you plan to use with Architect. Authorizations asked for are to:

      • Associate your personal data on Google,
      • See your personal info, including any personal info you’ve made publicly available,
      • See your primary Google Account email address,
      • See, edit, create, and delete your Google Ads accounts and data.

      The first 3 authorizations are for logging in to your Google account, and the last authorization is for using Google Ads API for your Google Ads account. Without the last one, you are not allowed to use Google Ads channel.

      Integration Steps

      Google targets its users using their email addresses or phone numbers via an external data source. That's why you need to pass your users' email addresses or phone numbers, and GDPR opt-in information to Insider before starting to use Google Ads Customer Match in your journeys. You can use Upsert User Data API or Insider Object Integration to pass this data. 

      If your company obtains your users' consent in compliance with the local regulations, make sure to pass the GDPR opt-in field to Insider. If you want to stop collecting and processing the data of an identified user, GDPR opt-in field should have the false value. Insider cannot be held liable if these obligations are not fulfilled and reserves the right to seek compensation from your company.

      To configure Google Ads for your journeys:

      1. Navigate to Architect > Settings > Google Ads Integration.

      2. Click the Sign in with Google button to authenticate with your Google account. Once you authenticate it, the integration will require permissions to access any Google Ads account linked to your Google Ads account.

      3. Click the Add Google Ads Account button to connect the Google Ads accounts to Insider.

      4. Select your identifier as email or phone number. This identifier is used for matching users to Google's databases and does not necessarily have to be an identifier within Insider. As long as you pass the phone number or email address information through any source, Insider will be able to use it to match the users.

      5. Save the settings.

      Now you can create an audience, add users to an audience, or remove users from an audience in the Google Ads element on the journey.
